Fair Usage Policy – Data Access & Egress

TABLE OF CONTENTS

This Fair Usage Policy is designed to ensure that customer access to data within the Compucare on Azure platform is provided in a way that is secure, performant, and cost-effective for all customers, while preventing misuse that could adversely impact the platform or incur disproportionate infrastructure costs.

Read-Only Replica Compucare Database Access

  • Customers may be granted read-only access to a replica database for reporting, analytics, and operational queries.
  • This access is intended for:
    • Ad-hoc querying
    • Business intelligence tools
    • Operational reporting
  • The read-only replica must not be used for:
    • Full or repeated database extractions
    • Data warehousing replication
    • Automated bulk exports or scheduled full database pulls

Replica databases consume shared platform resources. Excessive or inefficient querying, including large scans or frequent full-dataset reads, may degrade service performance for other customers.

We reserve the right to:

  • Monitor query patterns and resource usage
  • Throttle, restrict, or revoke access where usage is deemed excessive or outside fair use
  • Recommend alternative data access patterns (e.g. scoped exports or APIs)

Data Export & Egress

Data egress refers to data transferred out of the platform, including but not limited to:

  • Exports from databases
  • Downloads from storage accounts (e.g. files, reports, backups)
  • Transfers to external systems, clouds, or on-premise environments

While reasonable levels of data export are included as part of the service, large-scale or repeated data egress incurs direct cloud provider costs.

Included Usage

Unless otherwise stated in commercial terms:

  • Moderate, infrequent exports aligned with normal business operations are included
  • Standard report downloads and user-initiated file access are considered fair use

Chargeable Usage

Additional charges may apply where:

  • Data egress volumes exceed agreed thresholds
  • Customers perform frequent bulk exports or full dataset downloads
  • Storage account egress generates material outbound bandwidth costs
  • Data is systematically replicated to external platforms

Charges will be based on:

  • Actual outbound data volume (GB)
  • Cloud provider egress rates at the time of usage
  • Any additional platform overhead incurred

If customers have specific data integration or extraction requirements, these should be discussed in advance so that appropriate commercial and technical arrangements can be agreed.
